Extremely SLOW drip RO/DI

It is pushing alot of water through 1-3rd stage, then in the membrane it significantly got reduced to drips although waste water still at a high flow. It probably doesnt even have enough back pressure to push through my DI cartrige.

It takes me about 48hrs to get a full 5gallon. Thats rediculous!

Any suggestions what is wrong or improvement?? Thanks

ro/di units depend alot on the water pressure being fed to them, get a flow meter from home depot and check what you are getting from the feed line. you may need a pump hooked up to it. one other thing, how old is the di? if its old it might be the issue.

Not sure what the pressure reading is, but Im getting alot of water when turn on full blast.

The unit was bought new years ago but mainly used to auto top off since im not a big fan of water changes.

If you haven't done anything to the membrane cartridge like take it apart recently, then the RO membrane may need to be changed. I believe the rule of thumb is to change it every 2 or 3 years depending on how much water you make and the tds of the tap water.

How much waste water do you get for one gallon of good? The ASOV could be the problem, or a check valve, or the flow restrictor.

Qpham, if I am reading you right you had this hooked up directly as a ATO?

If so IMO the problem is the Auto Shutoff Valve. When these valves are cycled a great number of times, such as hooked directly to a ATO they can go bad. It is easy to see if this is the problem without buying another though. Just disconnect the Auto Shutoff and turn the water back on. You should have the normal flow if that was the problem.

If that is not the problem a new set of filters is probably in order.
