Equipment Startup Help?

Is there anyone in the Keller/NRH area that may be able to help me start up the equipment on my new 90g. I am too anxious and don't want to wait till my husband comes home from out of town.
I have added the sand, water, and most rocks and now everything is so cloudy I can't see anything. Thanks Dave for your advice, I will let everything settle for a day or two then I want to start up the equipment. I'm just so nervous that the worst will happen, Leaks, 30g of water on the floor and not know how to get it to stop.
We tested everything in the garage and it worked (except the skimmer), but since then we've moved it in the house and things were disconnected and reconnected. I think it's the skimmer that concerns me most, I've never used this type and not sure how it works. :?

I helped my husband with the plumbing and think I understand the closed loop, but when panic sets in I can forget everything. I would like someone present as a safety net to tell me what to do next or if something is incorrect before I throw the switch.

I appreciate any help possible.

Thanks,
Gail

I agree let it set for a couple days and let everything settle down. When the water starts clearing turn the stuff on lol...

Hi Gail,
I'm probably not too far away and could have some free time this afternoon.....you can give me a call at 817.909.3358...

You're quite welcome... this will help teach you patience if nothing else!! I know its hard to sit there and look at a cloudy tank, but by next weekend it will be cleared up and everything will be running fine. You'll be entertaining yourself by blasting the fines off your rocks then as well... and telling yourself... that rock would look much better over here etc.

Yes. Definitely use this time to get your rockwork just the way you want it. It's much easier to do this now before you get livestock in the tank. I agree on giving it a day or two for the dust storm to settle, but if you are curing live rock during your cycle you should be running your skimmer.

It should settle in a couple of days but keep in mind that if you have fine grain sand... it will take some time to settle compared to larger suger size grains.

I can not help this weekend because I have commitments... but I can help you sometimes after Tuesday if you need some help.

Thank you so much Frank and Scott, for all your help and encouragement, everything is running good. Whewww! I did it!

I will add some live rock and sand tomorrow when things have settled a bit, then the cycle begins...I'm so excited I can hardly stand it.

Patience Grasshopper...

I will take pictures as soon as my granddaughter returns my flashcard.

Thanks again everyone, yall are great!
Gail

God, Day One. I get antsy just thinking about it. Somebody should make little plastic wind-up fish you can put in your tank while it is cycling.

i put 2 damsels in my 90 when i cycled it, made it a bit easier than waiting with no fish, and they actually made it through, so all was well...depends on your view of how to properly cycle though...worked great for me...
