Emerald crab eating Xenia

I thought I had one of those tanks that can't keep xenia...I now know one of the reasons. I'm watching one of my emerald crabs munching down hard on some xenia I got about a week ago. I never saw either of the emerald's do this but apparently they no longer sneak and do this at night. Anybody ever had this happen??

I have two emeralds and three patches of xenia and haven't seen them touch it yet. Are you sure they are eating the xenia and not the stuff on the rock around the base? If so, this is very interesting behaviour.

If it is actually eating xenia, you could make a fortune selling him to somebody like me who is plagued with the crap!

I am very sure. I would from time to time see bit's of xenia floating around looking like it had been severed...well I noticed a clump of xenia had been pulled loose from a rock and lo and behold one of the emerald's had a stalk up to it's mouth definitedly eating the xenia.

Cheers!

Is this of the smaller varitey or the larger ones? I've heard that the larger ones can me more aggressive to tank mates. I've seen mine eat away at one of my damels!

They are relatively small.. I've only heard of the Sally light foots being aggressive with size after their claw's change shape, I have not eard of the Mithrax harassing livestock before. I am still rather new to this so I'm not excatly falling back on years of experience when I make that statement.
