Emerald Crab eat a Peppermint?

My Peppermint Shrimp has gone missing, the only new addition is some Blue Leg hermits. (they are half the size of the shrimp) and a Emerald Crab which is a pretty big crab. His shell is at least 1" front to back. Who done it???

I noticed his tail shell on the 14th so I assume he molted then. Do you think he is hiding extremely well as his upper body molts and hardens? It would be great news if that's the case.

So we are now about 4 days without the shrimp showing face. Let's just say he is missing until I see otherwise. What are the chances of a Emerald eating a shrimp?

emerald crabs are vegeterians, so I doubt it.

I had 4 peppermint shrimp that I put in my tank and I only saw them one time since then. I have cleaner shirmp that I see now that they have gotten bigger.

My emeralds will eat anything and everything given the chance.

I am going to have to find a way to catch that darn crab and trade him in at the LFS then. I feel the theme song from Deadliest Catch playing in my head. Anyone have a mini crab trap?

The only luck I have had catching them is to take the piece of rock they are on out of the water and kinda herd them to a net or container, unless he goes down in a hole, then good luck getting him out.

I caught mine by using my sea squirt to lure him into my container. Just have to be careful that he doesn't have quick cracks to run down.

Had a gorilla crab hidden in my new rock. Was eating my fish and hiding very well. Used glass to capture him.

I'm sure someone here will buy him!

I finally had enough, I went in to look at the tank and that darn Crab was pulling at the Branch Hammer Frag I just got from David. It was the last straw :x , I went in, washed my hands and caught that sucker, he went straight up to Rift to Reef in exchange for some Peppermint Shrimp. He ate a total of 3 Shrimp. I honestly feel it was my fault, he was too big for a BC29, he did a great job of removing some hitchhiker Bubble Algae but there wasn't enough left overs for him to eat on and be happy.

Peps are fairly reclusive compared to cleaner shrimp.
I added 3 to my tank at one point, and only saw them about 1x every few weeks. You may still have them!? How larger were/are they?

I know other people that have some that are more outgoing, but all the ones I have had stay hidden most of the time.
