Elegance Coral Question

Hello everyone, I want to try a elegance coral and want to see if anyone has had luck with them using a refugiem and skimmer system. I have heard good things about MIRACLE MUD by EcoSystem Aquarium. But want to find out how the refugiem skimmer system would work. I am thinking I could just put miracle mud in my refugiem which might work. Let me know thanks Woody

I think it has more to do with the specimen you get and water quality than how you achieve it. I have a skimmer and a 10 gallon fuge. Mine shrunk for the first two months and is now stable. We'll see how it goes. There isn't a lot of science on how to keep them in an aquarium, so it's mainly luck of the draw imo.

Well if you were on the tank tour you prob. saw it. Ramin from Exotic Aquatics has a beautiful speciman of elegance coral and coincidentally has miracle mud in his fuge system. He raves about miracle mud all the time. I don't know if it cause of the miracle mud or just a good speciman but he has had it for about 18 mos. I think he said. Here is a pic of it. It gets real big throughout the day.

Well nevermind on the pic since I can't access tesfield's photo page with all the tank tour pics. Maybe I will try it later.

Well I have housed an elegance coral well over two years before. I haven't heard any theory around the miracle mud, but If the mud gives off beneficial minerals, vitamines, etc....its going to be good for just about everything in my mind.

The key to my succcess was that I kept the elegance fed. It liked mysis and brine both. I feed it about once a week. Mine liked moderate water flow...not constant. I kept it in the mid area of the tank.... I always keep the calucium level high too due to a lps, sps tank along with the keeping up with the other reef supliments.

Good luck......

Oh I lost mine when I first tried the tropic marine calcium product. It said you could add it to the water column in your display tank, and I tried it. The calcuim didn't totally disapate and landed on the elegance and burnt it up. I have not purchased one since, but they are a great addition to the aquarium....

Hope this helps.
