Just wanted to ask if any of our members have first hand knowledge of how these pumps are fairing being used as a return pump.


Id like to use it in place of a mag 9 on a 65rimless in a trigger crystal 30 sump.


Seems like it would be more then enough flow to be a great return pump but I am mainly concerned about longevity and the usage of features with the driver modes.

Prob won't get answers on longevity as it just came out this summer. Might search on r2r or rc might find a review there with more info

I don't have one. But IMO it has way more upside then the mag 9. I wouldn't hesitate to replace the mag. This is one of two pumps I'm debating to use in my new setup.
 
No info on that pump, but I have had good overall experiences with other brand DC pumps vs. mags. Lower power, quiet, controllable. If the Ecotech is better on reliability I'd call it a win. Of course you could get 2 Waveline or similar DC pumps for the price of one Ecotech pump.
