Ecosystem? who is using this system? - How happy are you?

[Just need opnions and advices about the Ecosystem without skimmer. Are you using it? how happy are you with the result? Pros and cons if there is any.

Thanks,

Louie]

[I'm using this system but after about 6 months I went ahead and added a Protien Skimmer. Different systems work for different Types of tanks. All really depends on what makes maintenance easiest with what you want to keep.]

[I'm using their Ecosystem Pro model 3616 which has a protein skimmer included. Tank's been up for 3.5 months and while I am getting microalgae growth in the display - my water parameters have been rock solid since the tank cycled. So I'm pretty happy with mine - and the skimmer it comes with is a pretty good one!]

[Hey Louie,

Ramin at Exotic Aquatics runs one at home, and has one up and running at his store if you want to check it out in person...I believe he runs them with a skimmer though.]

[Where does the skimmer locate in the sump? I plan to keep mix coral but mostly will be softy. Thanks for all feedbacks.] said:
[In the Pro series models, the skimmer is in the first section where the overflow enters, then the refugium, then the return pump area. On my model, the first section appears to be made JUST big enough to fit the skimmer, and it's an ASM-G2 model skimmer.]

[I've seen it on a few tanks, and was never convinced it was worth the money. Peter had one on his tank, but later stopped using it. He might even sell his... Anthony Patrick (who announced each speaker yesterday) uses Miracle Mud in the refugium section of his sump.]

[I am planning on using Miracle Mud in my new sump that Marc is building, but the system will also have a skimmer in the sump. This is for our 200 gal aquarium being designed right now. Looking for a way to get the Miracle Mud cheap! So far it cost too much at LFS. It would be nice to get at Dealer cost....]

[According to Eco-Systems, no. They have something in the Miracle Mud that provides all kinds of elements on a regular basis. Some have tried to guess what it is over the years on Reef Central. I think it was some nutrient rich dirt in Utah, but don't remember the specifics.

I've always just used 1" of live sand in my refugium. MM costs $80 a container, so I guess it really is a miracle that people pay for it. :D (No offense, David! )]

[Marc,

None taken

Only $45 at Dallas North the last time that I checked and I admit that this is too much. Does anyone know what Dealer cost is???

[Try contacting Brad to see if he can get it for you at a lower cost perhaps.]

[If there was ever a need for a group buy, it would be on this product since it is clearly overpriced to begin with. I will also see what I can do......]
