Eco Tech Marine Battery backup

Ive got two MP power heads on two different tanks. On one tank the MP10 is powered by a DJ powerstrip and my question is will I have to unplug the battery back up each time that I want to feed pellets? When I feed pellets I turn all water flow off so that I have minimum waste plus I also have a blue spotted jawfish that wont venture too far from his hole. When I feed frozen food I put it in feed mode so that is no concern. But when I turn the pump off with the powerstrip will the battery kick in?

Also, I just got a MP40 for my 120 and have the same type of feeding schedule pellets in the morning and frozen at night. This tank is controlled by an Apex and I have a module to control the MP40 so I'm guessing that the battery backup will not come on when I put the controller on feed mode A, B, C, D. Am I right in thinking this or am I wrong?

First answer...yes.

Second answer...no

My Apex program is this-

Fallback ON
If Time 08:00 to 11:00 Then Lagoon
If Time 11:00 to 21:00 Then ReefCrst
If Time 21:00 to 22:00 Then Lagoon
If Time 21:00 to 08:00 Then Night
If FeedA 000 Then Nutrient
If FeedC 000 Then Slow
If FeedD 000 Then ON

So you could do-
If Feed* then OFF

I was planning on putting Feed mode 'A' to turn the MP40 completely off---"If Feed A then OFF"----so will the backup power the MP40? This is when I will feed pellets.

And I was planning on programing mine almost exactly like yours for when I feed frozen but what is the difference between Nutrient and Slow?

This will shut the MP40 off, power is still available so nothing would trip the battery back up on.

Manual breaks down the modes much better then I could, plus you can set different speeds on different modes.

Night on mine is technically a lagoon at 25%. Night programmed is different then running Night off the base.

I push the button on the MP40w ES driver to turn it off if needed, and even with the BB plugged in, it stays off. It's the button on the right side. When done, I press it again to turn it back on. The BB is there if the power goes out, but doesn't run if the unit was manually cycled off.

I do Reefcrest from 8am-7pm, then Nutrient mode from 7 pm- 9 pm, the go to Slow(20%) from 9 pm- 8 am. I've never looked into the feed modes but I've had good growth this way. Before I had an Apex, I ran Reefcrest 24/7.

I like the nutrient mode because it uses different short and long pulse waves to suspend settled food.

I do like reefcrest and plan on having the Nutrient mode as well along with a few others just to have a change up. I just wonder how much the power head on the other end of my tank will change what I'm trying to do with the Vortech. My tank is 4' long with the Vortech on one end and the powerhead on the other end.
