Easy DIY return line nozzle

This is a simple way to make a return line nozzle. If you have access to a small butane torch, pliers, and pvc, you can do this.

Simply take the pvc and gently heat it with the torch. When the PVC is soft enough you can pinch it closed with a pair of pliers. To speed the hardening process of the heated PVC, I sprayed it with some cool water. You can skip that step but you must hold the PVC pinched until it will hold the pinched shape.

You may have to use a Dremel with a thick cutting wheel to my adjustments to the pinched nozzle. Sometimes they pinch all the way closed :D

After I finished mine I assembled the parts and painted them black with Krylon Fusion spray paint

Here's my trick, cut a piece of acrylic or pvc to triangle shape, use a stove or heat gun to heat the pvc pipe, push the triangle into the pipe to stretch out the nozzle, sand the edge.

How does that paint behave in the aquarium environment? said:
If you take a couple of extra seconds and wipe the PVC clean with acetone, then the paint will have a better adhesion IMO and you shouldn't have a problem with it in the tank.

nice torch. I have boiled....maybe not that hot, but right before boiling point you can pull out the pvc and it is very flexible.
