Dwarfs...anyone keeping them currently

I am sort of wanting to set up a dwarf SH tank and was wondering if anyone has any advise. They seem like they are going to be a full time job with the brine hatching and all.

What has the survival rate of your fry been?

Would love to see pics of your dwarfs also.

I was thinking of adding some Red Lava Shrimp as tank mates/CUC as they are tiny also.

LOL Angela -can't stay out of seahorses entirely can you?

I'm as bad...after a hiatus of about a year, I bought some FUCUS. They are neat...smaller than regular full size seahorses and apparently pretty tough. I'm raising a few fry again...and doing the brine hatching thing every day.

I do love them but Jeff isnt going to go for the big expensive version. I remember when I was little my dad bought some mail order dwarfs and didnt know anything about them really. Before they days of the internet. They didnt last long on flake food (imagine that). I think I may be disappointed though if they just sit there and wait for food to float by. Too bad they dont have the personalities of the big guys. I want to see some courting!

Off topic, I read somewhere that the little Red Hawaiin Shrimp aren't reef safeand eat corals. Anyone know?

I would love to have big horses again and if I was going to buy any big ones it would be H. Capensis. They are so cool looing and any seahorse thats a glutton at birth has my vote!

I had a dwarf tank. I have one or two threads on them here. They are a lot of work and take quite a bit of time. I sold mine when I got divorced. They are so cute and I miss them.

SeahorseSource.com has some really nice ones available in limited quantities. They are CB too. Abbie is very helpful.

Fry survival is about 10-20% of each brood.

I know this was almost a month ago, but if anyone is still interested in them, I'm trying to get a group buy together from a place that carries them. Check it out in the group buy forum.
