Dsb in new refugium

[I just got my new fuge up and running and have a question. I put a DSB in the fuge and I also run a DSB in my display. Do I need to seed the one in the fuge or will this happen on it's own?

[Take a cup of sand from the display to seed the refugium, or get a cup of sand from PetOrama to diversify the life.]
 
[You need to put live rock on top of the fuge's sand bed.

Unfortunelty a cup of livesand will only help with the bacteria and not the fauna. the bacteria will happen on it's own the fauna won't!]
 
[There will be fauna in the LS. Brian, take some and put it under a microscope. Some of these little guys are hard to see with the naked eye. Other critters are scooped up in a cup, including nassarius snails and various worms.]
 
[I'll do that tomorrow. It's funny because whatever fauna in my DSB came from you Marc. Remember, you seeded my sand bed for me about 2 yrs ago. I'm anxious for the tank tour now because I'm proud of my new addition.

[I almost forgot...does it matter how high my light is above the fuge??? Is about a foot or so above the fuge OK?

[That is a little high. I have mine about 4 to 5" off the water. The higher the bulb, the less intensity will penetrate the water.]
