Drilling a Tank?

I need some advice on this I've got a 37G I am considering drilling on the back. I could do an HOB overflow, but it will likely be a couple of weeks before I can set it up so I have time to drill it. Is anyone here skilled in this area? Could you give advice or be willing to drill it for me?
I know the Club has tools available fore this. I just don't know where to start, or if I should even consider this.

Here are a few threads dealing with drilling tanks:

There are 2 sets of the diamond tipped bits for members to borrow, I have one set, and DalaiTom has a set for you western guys...

In general I don't mind doing the drilling for someone, as long as they understand there are no guarantees when poking holes in glass, if the tank breaks all I or the DFWMAS owe ya' is an apology... Since you're on the west side of town, I can't speak for DalaiTom as to if he'd be willing to do the actual drilling for you, but he usually doesn't mind.

Also, I believe there are some LFS' and glass shops that will do this for a fee, but even there there's no guarantees...

Yeah you mentioned drilling it on the other thread I posted about the HOB over flow. I understand, It was a $30 tank so if it got broken I wouldn't be upset. I would appreciate it if you could contact him. I don't mind bringing the tank to whoever can drill it. What do you guys normally charge for this?

His username is DalaiTom - He's in Hurst, btw... You can PM him here, or I'd be willing to do it if you wanted to drive all the way out to Rowlett, however my schedule's pretty packed lately with the kid, wife in school, work, etc, etc, etc...

The usage of the diamond tip bits is free to DFWMAS members... Helping you do the actual drilling is free as well...
:D

Just a word of warning, from a cost perspective, don't forget bulkheads, and the cost of having a custom internal overflow fabricated...

(It CAN be done without an internal overflow, but having done it both ways, I HIGHLY recommend doing it with the internal overflow!!!)

I'm kind of into the hole DIY thing anyhow, so internal overflow boxes wouldn't be to difficult.
I built the stand, I'm building the Hood, DIY lighting, etc. might as well go this route with the whole thing. LOL

Yeah Tom said the 1" loaner bit on this side of DFW is being used. He has the others. So when he get's it back he'll drill my tank.
