Okay, I am the first to admit my sense of humor is more than a bit warped. I wouldn't have it any other way though. So, if you are new to the hobby, this is just one of the things I have done recently. Do not try this. It will not work. You will kill all of your animals.
Two friends dropped by the other day. One had seen my tank on previous visits, the other had never seen it until that day. Both stood and watched the fish, looked at all of the corals and the one who had never seen it before began asking a thousand questions. I did my best to answer them but when he came to this question, my weird sense of humor could not resist.
Q: What is the pink stuff on the ends of the tank?
A: Coralline algae.
Q: Why does it grow there?
A: Because I let it grow there.
Q: Why doesn't it grow on the front of the aquarium?
A WD-40
Like I said, don't try it at home.
