do anemone's poop?????

tonight i turned the lights off, came back about 10 min later with a flashlight, my wife's GBTA was putting out this "string" of a brown substance, for a second it looked like one of the spawning pics from marc's page, then i moved and realized it was brown. the only explaination i could think of was (for lack of a better word) poop. anyone heard of this???

im going to go back out in about an hour and check again

Rob, keep an eye on it's color. If it starts looking paler, then the anemone may have been expelling it's zooxanthellae.

Anemones will expel extra food, if you feed them too much.

This is in a 24g nano, right? I wouldn't recommend an anemone for that tank. While some have sucessfully kept them in nanos, the odds aren't in its favor (not enough light.)

this guy is bright green. gets greener when the lights come on, and the bubbles come out, im going to put him closer to the top

I'd leave him be for a bit. Since he's so new, he's probably still settling in. If you do decide to move him, move the rock that he's attached to, don't try to peel him off the rock he's in.

What are your water parameters? Did you have any ammonia / nitrites / nitrates when you put the new rock in? Have you tested them since?

all the water parameters check out everything is good .nitrates were a bit higher than i wanted 0.25 im going to check it today at post the results. where should the alkalinity be?

i haven't gotten out of bed yet today so ill go check on him in a few minutes

He was pooping. It's fine! It should happen on a fairly frequent basis like maybe weekly or so. Most people don't see it because it's often times at night.
