Diy mh lights - Questions

[http://www.justinunderwater.com/mhkit.htm

I was wondering if anyone knew specifically what light kit this guy is talking about from home depot?

I looked around and i couldn't really find what it was describing.]

He must be talking about the ballast, I dont see a price listed for these...you wont fint them at HD for 21.00 (I dont think)

But if you look in my for sale thread i am selling 2 250watt each ballast...they would work perfect with his project....I will make you a sweet deal....

let me know]

[I did my own mh kit all custom and trust me I've looked at home depot they rarely even had metal halide lights let alone for 21.99. the mercury vapors are that price which is what he might be talking about. they can run metal halide bulbs but will make them burn out fast. There is a way to do it for cheap. (depending on what kind of bulb you want) mine is a daul 175w 20000K. i purchased the bulbs at marinedepot.com for $60.00 a piece and if that is too expensive for you then you probablly shouldn't be in the saltwater hobby. I purchased the 175 w ballast at mustang lighting in plano for $50.00
each. looking at $220 so far. the sockets run 8-15 dollars depending where you get them. marinedepot has them too but i already had a pair. I also bought aluminum sheeting like he did for the reflectors and a breaker electrical box for the ballast to go in and then of course you have to mount and wire them. total cost around $260.00 for an awesome halide setup. I purchased my parts in stages to be lighter on the wallat with the last purchase being the bulbs. Its really easy to make a great custom kit. ill post picks of the setup later.]
