DIY mag powerheads/ attaching plastic to acrylic ?

Hey all,

Sorry for posting this here rather than in DIY, but I always seem to get far more and far quicker responses here, so I'll give it a shot, please forgive if the post is too far afield for the reef discussion thread.

I'm making some acrylic/magnetic mounts for my powerheads and have the design pretty well worked out, the only thing about which I'm not sure is the attaching of the plastic suction-cup frame to the acrylic magnet I'm making.

In other words, what's the best way to attach plastic to acrylic to insure solid hold? I have weld-on 3, super-glue gel, 100% silicone, heat to embed the plastic frame into the surface of the acrylic... I would like the job to be relatively clean and neat so silicone or heat are less-than-ideal options (I never can use a silicone bead neatly, always end up with unsightly globs everywhere).

Any thoughts on this sticky question? :D

Thanks,

I make my own as well and just drill and tap some 1/4 20 holes and use nylon screws, this of course is for the MJ mounts that use 3 suction cups.

I just weld them with Super Glue Gel and used the accelerator stuff to set it quickly.

That's how I had my tunzes attached to the sure grips.
