DIY HM+PC ideas?

Well I just got a 70w Metal Halide for my 12g aquapod and I want to incorporate the old lighting with the new MH.

#1 install the MH into the existing hood and add a few fans to keep the temps down.

#2 Gut a power compact hood of some sort and install everything into there and have some fans blowing across the surface.

Any opinions or alternate ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thanks
William

Why would you want to install the pc's with the m/h on a 12g nano? The 70w m/h allready gives you 5.8 watts a gallon. Thats not bad for most of all your corals, unless your doing sps then I think you will have heat ishues on such a small tank. Just my opinion.

Im really wanting to keep clams so I really want to pack in as much lighting as possible. I think i might pack it all into the hood and just put 4 fans in the hood to cool it down.

Ill update whenever I make progress on the hood.

I think the problem you might have is evaporation.

Without the extra water available from a sump, I think too much water may evaporate too quickly (relative to the 12G you have available).

I'm not speaking from experience, just guessing.
