[Ok guys, i came across this idea this week. my neighboor gave me a two cubicft. mini fridge. i went to the auto zone and bought a transmission radiator, then i connected twolines and drilled holes in the front door. drilled another hole to put in a lil desktop fan. I put it inside againts the radiator, then i sealed all the holes and conected the intake part of the radiator to a mag 5 and the the out line goes to the sump. it works great i measured the temp coming out of there at 53 degress. i just need to figure the auto on and off part :smart: any coments welcome!]

[I wonder if you could put a regular AC thermostat and have that drive a relay which you would connect to the pump.

but, what I would use a solenoid valve instead of shutting the pump on and off (but then again I can usually get those at a real good price when I go to Houston on jobs)]

[Those are usually made out of aluminum
I not sure its reef safe

:Oo:]

[definite concern over the radiator leaching out aluminum into the water. Salt and al can cause a corrisive combo. Some radiators are made with copper mixed in the flough (?). definite I am not sure. Might have been a better idea to have taken some 1/4in airline tubbing and coiled about 100 feet of it inside the largest container you could put in the fridge filling the container with water or a mixture of alcohol and geletin. Might not be as efficient but definitely safer when it comes to copper or aluminum leaching into the water of your tank. Just my thought]

[thanks you just popped our cooling bubble. I just knew I could lower the temp of my 140 by 5 degrees with a dorm fridge. :sniffle: :sniffle: :sniffle:]

[You should be able to use the fridge just use a titanium or other safe coil to put in the fridge. I personally would not use a transmission cooler.]

[I have a temperature controller, I am thinking buy a smallest non-digital window ac unit (~1/2 hp, $80) and tape a flex air duct to the vent and let it blows 50* cold air into the sump.]

[ok guys i just finished redoin my chiller, I put a container inside that is fed with water from the sump. here uis the cycle, water starts at the sump, mag 5 takes it to the cooler at the bottom, then water enters the container at the botton point, then comes out the top, where it exits the cooler and then it goes to the sump. I have a neptune controller that i am gonna program to do the auto shut off at 79 degress.]

[USE CAUTION WHEN DOING THIS, I sliced a big cut on my finger. STUPID DRILL :devil2: :cussing: :cussing: :cussing: :bomb:]
