Dispar anthias

Has anyone had any luck with these? I bought some a couple of months ago and I have been losing them at about a rate of 1 per week to week and a half. I would guess that it is from aggression because it is always the next smallest one that I lose. Is there a better Anthia to keep?

I keep Lyretails and they establish their hierarchy and I always loose some from that. I started with 5 this round and I'm down to 3.

I originally had a pair of lyretails. The male is pretty big and aggressive. I added 3 Dispar (1 male 2 females). 1 died and the other 2 hid in the rockwork for weeks before one came out and freely moved about. it's been a few months and 1 still hides a lot ( probably a male). barely comes out to eat. I may be wrong but I think it's best to add them at the same time, unless they're females. Dominant males are a pain with new additions!!

Well after some more investigation and a freshwater dip, I have confirmed that they are dying from flukes. Unfortunately I don't have any prazipro currently because I ran outon my snowflakes. So I will start treatment tommorrowmorning after I can get some at the lfs. I got everything ready to go tonight. What I am really scratching my head with though is how these things got in since I treat everything. The only thing that I can think of is they got in as eggs. Which is still odd because I typically do a double treatment.

I started treatment with prazipro today. The fish are already looking better and are less skittish. I will keep thisupdatedwith the progress.

Small update.

The fish seem to have made a full recovery. Everything looks awesome. Also I am extremely happy the no ich manafested during this stressful time. At least that treatment in the qt seems to have worked.

So unfortunately things started going south again today. Yesterday, day 6, I started running carbon and skimming again. Today the fish started exhibiting the same behavior they did before the treatment. So I did a large water change this evening and started the tretment again. For some reason these seem to be very difficult to treat. Has anyone dealt with anything like this before? I am not sure how many treatments to do.

I'm way late on this, but if you still need help, I would PM HydroInnovations on the Austin Reef Club forum. He keeps lots of anthias and has a lot of experience with QTing and treating/medicating fish of all sorts.

Thanks for the reply. Currently three more doses of prazipro seems to have done the trick. I am not sure how the first two in qt let them through but it did. I am just glad it was something I could treat in my dt.
