I hope Kevin see's this..... it will give him glimmer of hope I know his outbreak is driving him crazy. What is interesting is that these same things seem to work for some and not for others. I hope someone comes up with a method that works on a regular basis because this thing is the worst thing people can deal with. said:Thanks Dave, I did see it! My outbreak is actually under control at the moment, it seems that the 3 day blackout, replacing Phosban with carbon and running UV has really knocked the stuff back. I still have a few patches on the sand that my cucumbers stay on top of and get a spot or two on the rocks, but it's nothing like it was before. I may just win this battle yet!

Good to hear! I know you tried the blackout, phosban before.... is the carbon and UV new??
Good to hear! I know you tried the blackout said:It looked like the dinoflagellates got worse the more often I changed the Phosban, so I decided to scrap it and run carbon in the reactor instead. My thoughts are the GFO could be leaching iron into the tank that the dinos are thriving on. Running a UV sterilizer was actually suggested by Sanjay Joshi when I emailed him asking what he had done with this stuff in the past.
My water looks great and the snot is losing the fight.![]()
