dimming leds

I just hooked up my LEDs to dimmers but once I dim it, it probably goes from 100% to about 10% then shuts off...how do I get it so it goes from 100% to 0% without it shutting off at 10%...a
ny help would be appreciated thanks! O yea they're meanwell 48d drivers

So your dimmer is regulating 10V to the driver's dimmer circuit? If so then that still may be normal, meanwell's shut off at ~5% or 1V.

Cheers,

that sounds about right, I went through the same ordeal and ended up changing the program to dim form 10% to 100%

the LEDS just wont go down to 1% and stay lit, they require some minimum amount of current before they light up

each set up depending on the number of LED's and the driver settings may turn on at a slightly different minimum current so play with the percentages to find where that point is and adust your program from there

HTH

so I can get the dimmers to work....but my problem is I have 2 of the meanwell drivers hooked to one power cord (to save plug space)and one hooked to another power cord..but the only one that works is the single driver hooked to one power cord....the 2 driver with one cord only lights up certain ones...I've been told I can hook it up this way, any ideas why this doesn't work? Any help would be appreciated.

Explain exactly how you have the 2 drivers wired to the cord. Also, you can disconnect one of the pair and see if there's a faulty driver.

the number of power cords is not going to be a factor on being able to dim the leds properly, you can hook up to like 4 drivers on one cord and still dim each driver independent from the rest.

Each driver has power coming in which your good their, the output is what is regulated with your POT's, make sure you have the proper voltage going to the POTS and no shorts in the strands.. Each driver will have 2 wires coming out that need to be hooked up to their own POT assuming you want to dim each driver differently while also assuming you havent exceeded the capacity of the driver.

Hope that helps. If not LMK im happy to help.

i have 3 drivers per power cord, your issue sounds more like after the voltage convert, possibly a ground to heatsink, ensure you check every led for continuity to ground and also check for the diode test for each led from the opposite leds outs and ins. check out http://reefledlights.com/trouble-shooting/ for a little more in depth help

I didnt see anywhere he had confirmed he was using a controller, just covering all aspects though. Either way the same school of thought still applies.

That's correct I don't have it hooked up to a controller..

I have it hooked up similar to the diagram in the link below...I have 4 dimmers...2 of the dimmers have 2 drivers each and the other 2 dimmers have 1 driver each...controlling 2 different blues and 2 different whites...I'll check all the connections and test again this weekend. Thanks for the help guys!

I dont think the POTS can handle more than 1 driver at a time. That could be the reason only half them are lighting up. Im no electrcian but that might be your issue. LMK, I would be interested if this fixes the problem. Also, might think about emailing Mike at RapidLED to confirm or discuss the issue, dude is smart!!!

Pots have no problem with multiple drivers, they just regulate the voltage to the drivers to tell it 0-10v. I have pit 3 drivers on 1 pot with no problem before.

So the way you have it wired all of the voltage goes through the pots? How many lights are you running through each pot? Do they get hot? Im not sure that this is the best way to wire your system.

It's the way lost of systems are wired including some manufactured systems. The instructions on rapidled.com and their instructions have the leds run through pots. But maybe I'm misunderstanding what you mean and thus I'm also now concerned that there is a better way.

That just seems like alot of current going through a pot. The contacts inside are not very big. I guess it will be fine unless it gets hot or fails
