Diatom bloom

I've started developing a major diatom bloom on the 150 that's been set up for about 5 weeks now. I have plenty of circulation and I started running my skimmer a bit more wet. I've cut the feeding in 1/2 and I'm wondering if there's something I'm forgetting.
The tank currently has just a single 250W MH over it with a 6500K suppliment over my rics and Sebae. My Parameters are all pretty close to where they need to be
Sal 1.026
PH 8.2
temp floats between 79-81
Ammo -0
nitrates .25 (lost a clarkii over the weekend and a large turbo snail)
nitrites 0
Ca 440
mg 1250 (ish) as I dosed just after I measured
I have not tested for phosphates as I doubt the consumer test kits would be reliable

How long are your lights on?

At 5 weeks, diatoms are normal. It'll be 60+ days before they fade away.

Mine did that too...
I still have some and I am 6 months in.. Basically I have watched it turn to purple.

It goes away slow..

Just watch your tank and parms becuase you might go through another cycle so watch what you add..

the cleaners do not like Cycles..

Also I see you said you started to use your skimmer more.
I run mine 24/7 and I empty it any were from once a day to every 4 days.
Also do you have a refuge? It seems to do better then a wet dry or canister... gmax has helped alot in this area.. Watch what you have your water going through every thing not needed can add Nitrates so if your NItrates are not Zeroing out (unless your cycle is still going) then look at filtration methods and media.

Also remember what ever you add will cause a mini cycle if you will until what you have can carry the load..

What kind of live rock and sand do you have?

Also as marc mentioned... at this stage you should not need alot of light unless you have added coral so I would watch how long the light is on for... may want to reduce it or turn it off for a few days depending on what is in the tank.
