deworming for safety

Matt or anyone else...
what was that med/supplement that you recommended (especially for tangs) during QT to make certain they do not have any parasites...!?

I found these, but I'm not certain if they are safe as a preventative or only when the fish is infected? And can you put this in the main tank...?

(metronidazole , praziquantel, levamisole?)

Great, thanks for the info Matt!

I don't think any of my fish are infected, but I thought I would make certain...

That's good information. I will be trying that as well. I don't know if it's been done or suggested, but pest/disease prevention sounds like a great topic for a meeting.

True, but I thought the August meeting was only fish related and focused on identifcation and treatment of a sick fish. I was thinking a little bit broader to include corals. For example, treating corals for flatworms before they ever make it to the tank. If I'm remembering correctly, there's a dip for zoos to prevent pests. More preventative treatment instead of treating a known problem. Probably not making sense, but I know what I mean. :D

There is medicated food you can feed to them in a QT situation. Don't feed this stuff to an established tank though. Also.. add Clowns to the list of fish that should go through this process. The food in the link DaveJ posted should be fine. The stuff in your link is also very good. I would go for Seachem's version of Metronidazole though as it is already in powder form."]

Sounds good, thanks...
