Defrosting mysis?

My tanks been up since October and just bought my second pack of mysis, I didn't know until about half way threw the first pack it needed to be thawed before putting in the tank. I then began to sit the piece on a paper towel for a bit then put it in. I know I'm still not doing it right, I tried putting a piece into a little tank water to defrost then poured it in but it looked like I was pouring sand into the tank. Not sure if that's what it's suppose to look like or not after defrosted in water? Does anyone have a video of feeding mysis to their fish? Maybe a video on defrosting steps as well, I saw one guy got a cube and put in a net and sat it in tank water then mashed into a ball and drained all the liquid from the mysis, then spread it thin into a sandwich bag and froze it. He then just broke off however much needed and put straight into the tank.

I defrost it in tank water and then pour it through a brine net to sift the good from the bad.
