dead fish ammonia problems

I put a 3 inch rabbit fish in my tank a couple of days ago, and the thing is hiding so well that I am wondering if it died, and got stuck behind the rock where I am not able to see it. Does anyone know about how long it will take for a fish death to show up on an ammonia test? So far it is not. Thanks!
