De snails lay eggs?

[I was just doing some maintence around the tank and such.. and a I cam across a few baby snails cruising up the back side of the glass... so.. do snails lay eggs or where did the things come from?? Main reason I ask is I had a sand storm the other day because a powerhead fell.. I am just wondering if some of these things are buried :(

They are about the size of a mini-chocolate chip. and they are doing 10 times more cleaning than the other snails are

Thanks]

[Sure, snail will reproduce. If I look after "lights out" , there are many small ones as you describe cleaning the glass in my tank. I don't think that these burrow in the sand. I usually find them hiding in crevices in the live rock during the day.]

[Oh, yes, snails will lay eggs! Stable parameters, algae, and the right temperature, and I have eggs stuck to the glass - and usually smack in front! But my fish usually eat them. Or I clean them off. There are many kids of snails, and some of them are tiny - I forgot the name, but they are bad for clams, because they get inside the clam and eat the same food the clam would, and the clam starves. These are smaller than pea.
(I'm sure Amanda knows the name of these.)

[LOL! Of course I do :) They are Pyramidellid snails, and they are nasty little suckers. They will kill and eat clams and just about any other snail. Im having a bit of a battle with them now, thankfully not in my clam tank!
They are much tinier than a pea, closer to the size of a fingernail clipping from a child.
If you are seeing baby snails, these shouldnt be a concern though. Its really common for your snails to lay eggs, and if your lucky you'll get a few babys out of it.]

[well.. they are past the egg stage.. there is only about 3 (that I can find) of them total.. I was wondering how snails reproduced.. through eggs or some other means.. etc.]
