DAS Systems questions

Anyone using a DAS system for a reef aquarium?? If so where do you get your replacment filters. Dose anyone have any instructions on how this system works. What typeof lights should they have. I have a 150 das that I know nothing about. If i cant get some info about this system im gonna have to sale it. :sad: Any info would be GREAT.
 
the best info anyone can give you on a old style DAS tank is to just tear the internal filter out and get a hang on return with a sump/fufugium. I used the same tank for years and it is fantastic if you are looking to harvest hair algea. You cannot stay ahead of the nitrates as the filter system is poorly designed. I will be glad to answer any questions you may have for the modification. :wink:
 
I am selling my 55 gallon DAS tank and used it for 3 years with the intank filtration system and never once had any issues with hair algae. The filtration system is not as good as a tank with a refugium but I had success with it. You can buy replacement filters for them at Pet-O-Rama in Bedford and they also have other stores around the metroplex. Here is their site. http://www.petorama.net/

P.S. The tank is still pending sale because the buyer is out of town for several weeks. He said I can sell it if anyone else is interested before he gets back.
