[i just got my halide light system in. i got the 72" ocean medic with 5 halides. 2 of the halides are damaged. one of the lights has the end broke off, and the other has the ceramic on the ends broke off.

the one with the ceramic broken off is this a big deal? the place i got it from i think will exchange the bulbs...positive the will, that is why i bought the light fixture from them....

all in all the light fixture is pretty darn cool. it has 1 250 de on the ends with the other 250 in the middle. the 250 are 10k, and the 2 150's are 20k. the ballast box holds all 5 ballasts.

i am happy with the lights, just hope 72" covers 96" worth of tank ;)]

[so there will be one foot of tank on each side of the fixture? If so, the lighting should be fine. Are you using any additional lighting as a actinic supplement or is that what the 20k bulbs are for? Hope your ready for an electric bill increase ]

[yeah i am ready for the bill increase (my wife does not know it is coming). yeah there is a foot on each side. i am going to build the rock work away from the sides so that fish can get around to the back side.

is there a aquascaping genius out there that wants to help me in about a month :eyebrows: ?

oh yeah about the eletric bill i think i am going to run an cord from the neighbors house to mine  . this will be cheap eletric, i will paint the cord to match the neighbors inside colors. :rasp:]

[um, yea...that might not be a good idea trying to use your neighbor's electricity, I didn't pass the bar...but I think you could get in trouble for that :rasp: I happen to be a professional aquascaper, but am heading back to Lubbock later this week :D]

[Who did you order them from, and how were they damaged? I'd be making a call complaining, and having the broken stuff replaced (assuming you bought all new stuff).]

[One question. How large is your storage shed in the back yard. Will it hold you, your tank and your cot?

electric WHAT!

hehehe]
