Cycling tank - Ls before lr?

[Can I put LS in my tank for a week or so before I cure my LR in the same tank? I don't want to kill the organisms in the LS if the LR cycle is toxic to them. Thanks.

[I am guessing you are setting up a brand new tank? If so, I would set up the new tank now with the live sand, and cure the liverock in a rubbermaid container. That way you can cycle your tank and cure the liverock at the same time. It's nice to see some more Grand Prairie folk on here :)]
 
[Yes, it's a brand new setup. I don't really have the space for a separate rubbermaid container at the moment, that's why I was hoping to do it all in the tank.

I put the Southdown sand into the tank yesterday - it's still recovering from the sandstorm.

I guess I can wait until the rock is cured before I go in hunt of LS donations from fellow reefers. I wasn't sure if it would help cleaning up the sandstorm and/or assist in cycling the tank and curing the rock.
