Cycling and Lighting

Hi. I picked up some live rock yesterday. The rock was from an existing reef (6 months old) and had some soft corals already attached. (Thanks Dat!!)

I'm wondering if I'll get much of a cyle. Should I throw in a piece of shrimp? Also, since it has mushrooms, zoos and ricordia (I think), how long should I leave the lights on each day? (I have a T5 hood with 4 bulbs).

Still need to get some sand and maybe more rock...but, here are some pics!
 
This is also on the rock and appears to be shrinking. Should I leave it alone or take it out of there? How do I remove it?
 
You might want to put something on the bottom of your tank. If that rock pile falls or gets knocked over you could have a mess on your hands. :shock:
