Curious idea - Trading corals

[Salsini (Ron) recently gave me a frag of his colt. I remember the first TARE meeting I attended (think the first one ever for that matter). I didn't really have any corals back then. Mitch and either (New Mariner or Dallas Jose) both freely gave me corals. I think we kind of made a pact that if the colony in their tank ever went south and if I still had the one they gave they could have a frag or the original their choice.

Beside Ron, and Mitch, that goes for Marc, Salt, and which ever it was of the other two. It would go for Peterlin but I could not keep either SPS alive he gave me...sorry!

But, I recently was contacted by a person through frags.org and we are going to be trading partners. Kind of same pretense. I remember reading Misty and Terry had some good points about how things have changed...as that I am partly responsible for that feeling I felt obligated to get something like this rolling.

It's a great way to make freinds first off. Its an obligation we have to each other not by choice more by destiny...we are hobbiest! This is kind of like tank insurance. If you spring a leak. Have a bad disease or whatever... get some freinds together make a pact...this is just an idea]

[COMAS (Central Oklahoma) does something along this line. Someone will take a few frags from their coral and pass it on to another club member. That member must then frag it once it reaches the size of the parent coral that it was taken from. Theoretically everyone in the club should have a well stocked tank after a while. I think it's a pretty good idea, but I don't know how successful it actually is.]

[Matt and Corey I know I am not the only one doing it. The point is to initiate the discussion openly so some comraderee. lets shoot this thread for volenteers and try to get with people you already know and trust or that are near your area.
