Curing Base Rock?

I've recently figured out I'm going to need base rock for my new tank. Someone mentioned that it needs about a month to cure with high flow and lots of WCs. Can anyone give me a little more information on curing rock? I'd like to purchase the LR from a member when that time comes so it will be fully cured and esablished. The base will be . .just that in a DSB of 5". I don't want my jawfish getting killed under an avalanche, so I want all LR fully supported.

Thanks!

I used Tufa rock from Whiz-Q stone for my base rock. It costs about .18 a pound and I can not tell it from my LR. It has been in the tank since the end of Jan.

I did not cure it I just used my powerwasher and cleaned it really well.
I soaked it in SW for about a week, changing water twice. It seems to be working well.

That's where I was going to go! Okay so it didn't really need curing? Okay good deal a week is nothing. I probably won't even have the tank home in a week. I can get some and set it up in a tub like LR and change water once a week until I need it.

Was that just a 100% WC, right? I don't have a powerwasher. .can I just scrub it with. . with what?

Before I brooke my tank down I used rock from the same place. I just rinsed it out a few times and had it a tub with liverock.

Oh I can even keep it in a tub with LR? Even better. I'll scrub it and as I get LR I can add it as well. I've never seen it, but hopefully I can tell it from the LR. Thanks guys! 8)

Just hit it with the water hose on full, that will take care of most of it. If you are going to have it soaking for a couple of weks I would not worry about a 100% WC, I would just do about a 25% per week until you need it.

Jaguar-
If you do end up going to WhizQ and would like to make use of my power washer you are welcome to come over.
I don't know where in Arlington you are but I am in South Grand Prairie by the lake.

That sounds good. I have an apt so I don't really have much water pressure for a hose anyhow. It won't be immediately and someone sent me a link to another place that has base rock I might purchase from as well as rock rubble.
