Crazy little wasp

I know this isn't a aquatic emergency but I got work early in the morning and have a little wasp like 1/2" that's black with its up abdomen being red and lower being black. This dang thing loves hide and seek and it has now found the ultimate spot. I can't find him anywhere... this has been going on for two days.... I have no idea what to do.

Following as I need to figure out how to get rid of some around the house.

When I first moved into this house they made a small nest in my bathroom exhaust fan. Scared the c**p out of me seriously.

Well I aaw him around midnight but lost track of where he was...
