Corals for Biocube 29 (STOCK lighting)

Hi all,

With the frag swap coming up, I want to prepare by determining what I want to be looking for. I am aware of the lighting issues with the biocube 29 and have seen first hand the slow growth from the lack of lighting on even leathers, but I wanted to throw this out here to see what people have had success with in their own biocubes. Below is what I currently have and that I feel are doing well:

1) GSP
2) Mushrooms (Red & Blue)
3) zoas (some blue ones & some greenish ones)
4) palys (texas trash & some other brown ones)
5) Orange monti (very close to the top)
6) Pink finger leather
7) Kenya Tree
8) Xenia

Any other ideas? I could use some more color/more things going on. I still have plenty of room as most of my items are small frags :)

No anemones??? said:
Yeah I have been looking for a good deal on an anemone, to try to get my false perc to host or at least have it as they are nice. Unfortunately, I've heard mixed reviews on bubbles in this lighting. [smilie=wink.gif]

eeeek I forgot that you have stock lighting.... Hmmm Im not sure .... I have a GBTA and two pink tipped condy's. The condy's have tippled in size since I bought them last month.

Anemones are fun, but they come with lot's of caution....

Condy's are cheap but watch out - they love to walk around the tank and kill things.

Heh, I have heard Condy's are not great in tanks with reef/small fish. I think that's why they are a little cheaper, but they are nice. Would any rics do well in my system with stock lighting?

Sure! I don't know if the real nice colorful ones have different requirements but the green ones were my first coral and under much plainer, weaker lighting.
