coraline alge turning white?

I transfered 2 tanks into 1 larger tank. I have noticed some of the coraline alge is turning white. I used about 25% of the old water and new sand i put a cup of old sand in there. I have tested my water my ammona level is lil high. i do have new lights vho from pc's but havent been running then as long to not shock anything. my temp has been running lil lower then it used too
 
I am fairly certain it is due to the exposure to air for too long.
The same thing happen to some of the coraline that was on the back wall of my 40 when I moved it across the room. It only happened to the area that was exposed to air, since I removed most of the water during the move.

The coraline that I made sure was in water more, ie. the rocks primarily, was not effected.
 
ok cool, ya i notice it most on a power head whitch i did have out over night. and maybe few spots on roack that i did have sitting out of water lil while
