Coral beauty got a cloudy eye during Hypo/QT

I purchased a coral beauty about 2-3 weeks ago. He's been in a QT while I am doing a Hypo with a humu trigger.

2 days ago, I noticed that one of his eye is a bit cloudy. I checked all water parameters adn it was fine. The SG is around 1.015 at this stage of hypo.

Should I add maracyn to treat the cloudy eye ? or anything else I can add to cure the disease ?

Stan:

From what I've gathered from reading WWM, RC and other sites, if only one eye is cloudy or swollen it is usually from trauma, perhaps an injury, scraped against a rock or an abrasion from netting. Those green nets are really rough on fish?s eyes. I don?t think the antibiotic will hurt anything, however, If it were a case of bacterial infection, or Popeye both eyes would most likely be equally swollen or cloudy. How does the other eye look? I seem to recall Feener or Pro suggesting Epson Salts for such injuries as these. Then again, cloudy eyes can also be caused from the ich parasite itself, usually one of the first or second symptoms right after flashing. My Coral Beauty's eyes looks like that whenever there is an outbreak in the tank, but they always clear up in a few days.

You might want to take a close look with a magnifying glass to see if there are any specks around the eyes. At 015 SG she could have still picked up the bug from your Huma. Just tell your fish to hold still for a second so you can examine her eye.

Thanks,

I use a magnifying glass and no other ich was spotted. One eye was swollen and cloudy but the other one was fine. he eats as normal and so is oher behaviour.

I'm going to let it sit for a few days to see if there's an improvement. if not, then I may have to QT him separately..

I think the CBs have kind of sensitive skin on their faces. I've seen quite a few posts about swollen eyes and or lips. May be the way they are always pecking at the rocks and stuff not having a tough beak like mouth like a trigger or puffer. Sometimes mine hits the rocks so hard it raises little dust clouds. You know that's gota hurt.

Keep us posted.
