Coral Beauty beating up Regal tang -- Suggestions?

After about 1 month of peaceful residence, My 5-year resident Coral Beauty decided to beat up the Regal Tang to the point that the tang is always in hiding. Short of removing either fish (very difficult to do in my tank), I'm out of ideas.

Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Khoa,

In the middle of the night, find where the blue tang sleep and then manually remove the blue tang. If you want to keep the blue tang, then go to step two :)

Borrow a fish trap and then remove the Coral Beauty

What I really like to do is to capture the Coral Beauty and put him in confinement for a few weeks (monts) :D. Unfortunately, the fish traps I borrowed were too big for my tank.

I know where the tang is hiding at night. Are you saying it won't run away when I take the rocks out?

Thanks,

What size is your tank? said:
72-G bow front.

I have the following fish:

2 false perc.
1 Target Mandarin
1 Yellow Tang
1 Regal Tang
1 Coral Beauty

That could be your problem a 72 gal may not be large enough for a Coral Beauty and Blue Tang together. They need more space to get away from each other. You may need something around 150 or 180 gal.

That's the confusion part. I have thought that Coral Beauty is rather peaceful, but this guy fights with the clowns and the Yellow Tang. He's just particularly hard on the Blue tang now.

Other than removing one fish (Blue tang or the Coral Beauty), I'm out of ideas.

Sometimes as fish get older or used to their environment they become more aggressive usually towards the same species but there are always exceptions.

I would find the Coral Beauty a new happy home and bring peace back to your tank.
