[It's hasn't been a full day yet and my coral beauty, who has been in the tank since June 04, is attacking the newly added flame angel. Is there anything I can do?
[my yellow tang was being aggressive to my moorish idol so I took the YT out for a few days and then put him back in and now they seem to be doing fine. Disassociation thearapy! I'm not sure thats even a word :lookaround:]
[Typically if you want to try two dwarf angels you add them at the same time. I did this when I had a pygmy and a flame and never had aggression issues.]
[I wouldn't wait. I would either remove the coral beauty now and readd him or if possible remove both and when the lights are off readd both!
Make sure that when you add either to the tank the lights are off. I've found that most disputes are territorial and the new fish will look to claim a territory for home the old will try to stop thinking a policy of continued harassment will lead to the new fish moving on (which in a tank is possible). If the lights are off the new fish can claim territory while the old sleeps and sometimes this stops disputes from happening!]
[I have been told this works but I have never tried it. Try isolating one of them them in a small hampster ball for a few days until they get over their territory battle.]
[I was just trying to figure out how cramped things might be. You know, I was thinking about suggesting that we put our tank size in our signature line, just to save some time when trying to help others, but didn't pursue it.
I had the Coral Beauty in my 55g and the Flame Angel in my 29g before I combined the reefs into the 280g. I never saw them fight at all, and both of the swim all over the reef. Not exactly buddies, but not trying to avoid each other either.]
Well that because with 280 gallons to swim in you don't have to try to avoid someone and still have little chance of meeting. Oh, if only we could all be so lucky.
[We have a Coral Beauty and a Flame Angle along with a Yellow and Blue Angle in the same 75 gal aquarium. They were all introduced at the same time this past December however, and have been getting along so far.]
I had to buy some egg crate from Home Depot and built the tank divider. After alsmost a week in separation, I took the divider off. The Coral Beauty resumed attacking the Flame immediately. It would stop when the Flame went to "its corner."
Now (more than a week later), the Flame is just avoiding the Coral Beauty, but they are both sharing the whole tank! :taz:
