Well Ive had my coperband now for three weeks, he wont take food directlly, but he is steadally picking off of the rocks. Is there anything I can try to get him to eat food, or is it going to just take time?

what have you tried? my saddleback wouldn't eat at first, so I tried really small cyclopeez and he eats that now plus any type of frozen food. no flake yet but I am working on it

Ive only tried mysis shrimp, brine shrimp, and flakes. He wont take any of them, but eats off of the rock, infact he is steadlly picking from the rocks, but wont eat the aptasha that I bought him for.

Hi,

Try live brine....no nutritional value but it may at least get him eating. It's very hard for fish to resist live food.

Cheers,

Scott,

I made some food which I found that all the copperband tend to eat. I usually go to the asian market to get squid, clams, shrimps, fish, and other types of meaty food. I tend add Nori, brine, mysis, B12, extreme Garlic, phyto that I get from Cheryl, silverside, krill, bloodworms, angel and butterfly food and blend it in. Give that a try and let me know how it turn out for you.

ive read about getting one of those plastic balls with holes in it and putting some food in there might interest them. maybe try some clams on a half shell. you have lots of options of food to try, but the main thing is do it...dont sit back and hope for the best.

i also recommend buying them eating frozen already, but since that is already passed, just keep on trying different options until it eats. goodluck! :)

Here is the link about the ball feeder. My CBB definitely got food from it but my lemark angel and other fish learned quickly also and would chase the CBB away and it eventually died.

I got mine to eat frozen cyclopeze first bc it's small for his small mouth. He does fine now, eats all frozen foods as long as I mix with cyclopese. The corals love it too so it's not a waste. Good luck for a beautiful and interesting addition to your reef.

Tri-do you stick all that in a blender and make a seafood slurry? I've got a new CBB that picks at frozen but doesn't seem to eat mcuh, I'm thinking I might try your recipe.
