Cool way to mount softy frags with aqua mend

Like most of us, I have always had the hardest time mounting softy frags whether it's with a rubberband, wedging in a rock, or using fishing line. I took two toothpicks and criss crossed them through the trunk of a frag. I then wrapped the bottom of the frag and toothpicks with aquamend...it's working great. I wish I had thought of this a long time ago.

That is a cool idea!

Although I'd be a little worried about the flesh inside of the aquamend getting necrotic, but still a cool idea!

How long have you had one mounted this way?

That also crossed my mind...I have a ton of those lil guys to mount, so if it doesn't work out I'll just do another. The base is so thick the thing is just about indestructible. Another idea I have is to do the same thing with the toothpicks...and then mount it on a rock with the epoxy holding the toothpicks to the rock, but not touching the leather.

Next time, try plastic toothpicks because these don't rot in saltwater and the coral shouldn't have any issue with infection.

good idea with the plastic toothpicks. The frag has been mounted for over a day and looks stressed out. Hoping it's just it's way of reacting to the piercings it got yesterday.

Even easier - Aquamend can be had at Home Depot... They've usually got a single section in the store with various types of glue/adhesives in it, it'll be in that section...
