Controlling Bubble Algae

I'm fighting bubble algae (Ventricaria ventricosa) in my tank. From my quick research, it appears that manual removal is the only effective method of controlling this stuff. Anybody have any other suggestions? TIA!

We purchased an emerald crab and have seen no more bubble algae. I think most people would make the same recommendation.

Ive tried emeralds..never had luck. Liken it to peperments and aptasia. Some you do..others dont. I got some now. I had it really bad b/4. Had to pull rocks. Found that a toothpick would do great at "flicking" them off. If you have a small tank, not so bad. But my 150 was another story.

I had the same problem. I got 2 emerald crabs as well. The emeralds left it alone if it was bigger than a BB. If it was smaller than that, they chowed down on it. So I just waited until all the BB sized bubbles got a little bigger and plucked them out of the tank. A few of them popped, but that was no big deal. That just gave the crabs more to do.

Don't let them get too big before you pluck them out though... The bubbles can really wedge themselves into the rock work as they get bigger.

Yep. This would be great for ridding one's tank of the pesky little blue devils. The problem with this device is it is the same setup I use to target feed with, so my fish always come swimming up for food. I know sooner or later I'm going to be making some Sushi-ka-Bob.
