Coco Worm Spawning??? Pics Inc.

My Coco worm is spawning, I think...!?!?!?!?

It released the white stream as you'll see in the pictures below. It lasted over 4 minutes. I thought it would never quit!

Should I be concerned about water quality after this????

Looks like it's having the 'after' cigarette. LOL! Seriously, though, that looks exactly like what my stomatella or bristle worms do when spawning. Almost a milky / smoky substance. It's never been a problem in my 175 or my wife's 12g nano, but if it's clouding the water badly, I'd prolly do a significant water change.

Like I said before... I thought it would never quit!!! 4-5 minutes at a minimum! I was able to grab the camera... take 30+ pictures... download them to my laptop, edit them...make the post...and it was STILL "streaming."

EVerything appears to be ok!

OMG!! It's doing it again!! Didn't last as long! lol

Wait...make that a third time!

(6 times before it stopped all together)

Holy cow!

Maybe a little green phyto is actually better than the little blue pill. I'll have to keep this in mind for when I get old.

No, you have nothing to worry about.

I love that close up picture. I think I'm going to use it. :)

Okay, I know this sounds crazy but... a few minutes ago my Coco worm released a line of light orange spores that were almost egg-like.

I quickly got TJay to the tank to witness it as well. It did happen a second time.

Of course, the camera card was in his laptop and by the time i popped it into the camera, it didn't do it the third time. lol

There was at approx 30-40 released and some are still floating around the main tank. Any clue as to what was taking place???

Thanks!

i have hundreds or more baby coco worms on all of my figi rock in my 30 gal. I have had this rock for about 7 years. Just over the last maybe 2 years have i really noticed them. They look just like yours but there teeny tiny. Biggest one is maybe half inch. Rock was previously in my minibow 7 until two weeks ago. I ahvent added anything supplements to my water ever. So do they really grow that slow.

Curious why don't you buy another coco worm to see if they would multiply?

Dragon,

I think your referring to a different species (christmas tree worm) that live in a rock and is smaller in size.
