Cobwebs?

[I have recently placed some live rock from www.oceanpro.com (great price on nice rock). The rock has been inplace for only a few days and I am already getting some good coarline growth and so far a pair of polyps (yellow?) :D .Now I am starting to see what looks to be "cobwebs" or bubble looking and am not sure what it can be. I will try to get some pictures up sometime when I find my camera.

any ideas with the limited information I have provided?

thanks.]

[Some worms (terebellid, I think?) will throw out a cobweb to catch food and pull it back in. I usually see this occur as soon as food hits the water.]

[i dont think it's a worm since nothing is spitting out. this is an always out bubble like thing occurring in several small spots. it is also white with very little grey. the hermits seem uninterested when they pass by it, even the sneaky bastage that crawls out of his shell. wish i had a camera. did i mention in four days two polyps popped up??:D]

[Sounds like vermitid gastropods, "worm-like snails." They live in the rock and cast out that net to catch plankton, then draw it back in. Very interesting little critters!

Here's a macro of one:

[I have this too on some new live rock that is curing. I was told it was just die off? heres a pic, its kind of hard to see in this one place but it is all over the rock in little places...]

[jeff,

this is swamp's wife. (the one that stares at the aquarium the most. anyways, the stuff looks like my stuff but in bigger bubbles. wish i had a camera. is it bad stuff. our inventory in the tank are 5 damsels, 5 snails, 5 hermits, and 1 cleaner shrimp. do we need more clean up crew??? and will the bubble stuff go away. i also have some black stuff growing...like i said wish i had a camera.

did i mention i have what appears to be two polyps :D
i am so excited

[found my camera. here is what we are seeing. There are a few of these on different rocks (4-5) and they are growing. any ideas? anyone?]

[from what I understand your live rock is new and uncured like my rock. When the rock is shipped to you and out of water the rock starts to die off and then has to go threw a period of 3-4 weeks when the stuff dies off and then starts to re-grow. During this time your water is very toxic and should not consist of any live stock so as for the clean up crew I doubt they will survive? Now I am very new to this as well... this is just what I have gathered someone correct me if I am wrong...]
