CO2 resistant tubing

Anyone know if regular airline tubing (1/4") will be alright for a few days until I can find some CO2 resistant tubing? If I remember correctly, the CO2 will degrade the silicone tubing. Also, does anyone know where I can find some CO2 resistant tubing locally?

Thanks,
Chris

The CO2 resistant tubing is silicone vs. what, I'm not exactly sure. They sell it an most stores that have fish ime.

Well, I thought for some reason that regular airline tube would leak CO2. That's why they sell CO2 resistant tubing. I bought a regulator/controller off ebay and I was supposed to get 8 ft. of CO2 tubing. I want to set up this reactor before the CO2 tubing arrives (probably next week).

Go to a welding supply store ask and for CO2 resistant tubing. They'll be able to help you out no problem. (I was a welder before I joined the army.)

Tony,
Here's what I was talking about the degredation of regular tubing:

Regular air tubing can lose up to 25% of its CO2 before it even enters the tank. Sillicon tubing loses up to 5%. CO2 resistant tubing loses less than 1%.

Thanks Donovan, I'll check it out.

I just use regular airline tubing (clear 1/4") from the regulator to my Calcium Reactor, and the tank has been running for months. To be honest, it seems like I've not used hardly any at all. It is a very large cylinder that I got from Mark (Mesquite). I think is is a 20 lb tank.

I did wonder in the beginning in the type of tubing mattered, but based on what I've experienced, it wasn't anything to worry about.

Sounds good. I think that I'll just use some extra airline tubing then. I got my tank from Mesquite as well. Nice guy.

Yeah, there's nothing wrong with using regular tubing, but I'd keep my eye out for the other and replace it at some point unless you just want more CO2 in the house for the plants.
