CO2 regulator - Need recommendations

Well I think one of my problems with my Calc reactor has to do with my CO2 regulator. I cannot see to get a consistent bubble rate. I will set it and when I come back in 1 hour or the next day, the flow has almost stopped.

So, any good ones out there? Cost is not really an issue but is an issue if you know what I mean.

Thanks

I use the Milwalkee MA957 regulator, I set it at 80bpm and it has never fluctuated. Only one I have ever used, and would certainly buy again.

Well Kevin, I am using the same regulator you are but I seem to be having a tough time getting it dialed in. At this point I will keep working on it. Otherwise, maybe I just need to get a new one and see if it works better.

Todd,
Call Milwaukee and see if they can help. Talk to Brian or Beverly, they are both very knowledgeable.

a needle valve would solve the issue as well. Regulators, ime, aren't that great at holding single digit pressures over their lifespan. But having a needle valve lets you knock down their pressure from anything less than 5-8psi into whatever bubble rate you want and is much easier to set the bpm.

The Milwalkee that I have, same as Kevin, has a buddle counter and needle valve as part of the assembly.

I have a feeling there may be a problem with the regulator. When I open the main valve from the tank, I will see the pressure on the left guage (the tank) at around 50 psi, I think. When I open the black valve on the regulator, the right hand guage reads off the chart (like the needle if out of position by 300 degrees). I made sure I have this open all the way to what I think is max pressure. Then I move over to the needle valve to work out my bubble count. This is where I have problems. I can set the bubble count at X rate in the evening, by morning, it has all but stopped or is down to a bubble every 10~20 sec.

So I think I will give Milwalkee a call tonight or this afternoon and see what they say.

AH. Definitely sounds like either your gauge or your reg is hosed. Let us know what you figure out.
