clown spawn

Our clowns just laid eggs. I don't think I'm going to be able to do anything other then allow them to become part of the food chain, but thought I'd ask what the process is anyway.

When and how do I remove them?

what conditions should they be kept under?

what and how often do they need to be fed? And, all of the other newb questions I don't know to ask.

I remember reading some posts on them, so if you have the link handy or know of some other links outside of DFWMAS please let me know.

Our poor male finally got the female to respond. The poor guy has been cleaning rocks and chasing off hermits and snails for months trying to prove himself to the female. I guess she finally gave in.

thanks

cool pete,
I got rotifers if you wanna try to raise the clowns.

if you go to: http://www.marshreef.com/files/raising_clownfish.doc

you can d/l Karen Horn's guide on how to raise them.
we usually put a terra cotta pot near the clowns and their home, so they'll lay eggs in it, and we can get all of the babies that way.

If you want to give me some, I can try raising them for you or something. I've done 1 batch successfully in the past

oh embryoguy made a clown larval snagger:

sure pete.
you can take some of my rotifers and try raising some of the babies as well if you can catch them. if you get a lot, I can give it a shot too.

I'm expecting banggai babies as well :)

great news on the bangai's

I'll see what can do on the clowns - right now I think Tuesday is hatch day and I may be out of town

Pete

I miss judged they hatch date. They all became part of the food chain sometime on Sunday morning. Maybe next time.

cool, you have like a week to get ready.

com'on over and pick up some rotifers if you like. I don't have a lot though, just poured 1/2 away today. but they should be dense again in a couple days.

I recommend culling, pick some and try to raise them. may be 20?

have a good phyto culture going or just buy a $20 bottle of rotifer food, that should last long enough until phyto is ready.

and run by home depot and buy a terra cotta pot, about 5" in diameter, make sure there's a hole in the bottom. After this batch hatches, place the pot where the eggs are laid. this way, it'll be a whole lot easier to get all the babies when they hatch.

shoot me a pm if you have questions or something
