peppermint shrimp are very shy...one thing too if you feed your fish the pep shrimp will not kill the aiptasia.

if none of your snails or hermits before were killed then you prob dont have a mantis problem. prob a pistol shrimp.

Are you sure all the peppermints are gone. They can be really really good at hiding sometimes. Do you look over the tank a few hours after the lights have gone out, with a soft powered flashlight?

Agree with Drew, I never see any peppermints out, and figured I didn't have any in my tank. A couple days ago at night we actually saw them out in the open, so just very shy and only out at nights in my tank.

Six Line Wrasse, Blue Damsel
These will both attack peppermints, if they are hunting at night.
If you leave the lunar light on all night, the PM will continue to hide in most cases, because the fish can use that light to hunt with.
Unless you have the light on for some special reason, I would turn it off some nights, or at least for a few hours at night.
Just my .02

Also dont forget that there are mantis's that spear and dont thump. Those mainly feed on soft bodied animals. You might have a spearer. They are just as common as thumping mantis's. They will eat fish ans shrimp, but will not bother snails or hermits. I would try the waterbottle mantis shrimp trap.

I've cought several mantis's that way, i had a guy call me and ask me how to use make it( this was before i found the link) then called me back 15 min later to pick up the mantis. Hope it works! If the mantis needs a home please give me a call, i keep them as pets and would love to save his little hide if you dont want him after you catch him.

There are two different sp. the three that i got from reeftopia took out all my aptasia, but then again i have a 14 gallon tank. I have also noticed that if you feed you fish alot they dont go after the aptasia.
