Cleaner shrimp Vs Cleaner wrasse

I'm thinking about getting some cleaner shrimps or cleaner wrasses. And I was wondering which do a better job. I hear people say the shrimp do but I figure the wrasse would since they more mobility. So if anyone out there experience them before, let me know plz. Thanks!! [smilie=smile.gif]

One thing to keep in mind is the ease of care...cleaner wrasses often parish in captivity if they don't take to prepared foods, whereas cleaner shrimp are scavengers that will usually take anything meaty dropped in the tank.

You might also look at the neon cleaner goby. They're a bit easier to keep than the wrasse and do a good job as well. We have all of the above. [smilie=wink.gif]

I can't keep a cleaner wrasse alive to save my life, have tried 4 and longest I have kept one alive was for 3 months. Some have had luck keeping these, I gave up and bought a couple of the blue neon gobies, a pair of cleaners and a blood shrimp. I have them mainly for diversity, color and to see the interaction when they setup their cleaning stations and not really to handle any real malady. [smilie=wink.gif]

Cheers,

Thanks for all the advices. I guess the cleaner wrasse have no luck cuz they clean off the fish so good that they die. j/k!! [smilie=rofl.gif]

But I guess I will invest in the cleaner shrimps and look more into the cleaner goby. The shrimp do look more appealing too. [smilie=smile.gif]

I really believe both are incredibly overrated in terms of what they can do in our hobby. I would not purchase with the main goal to keep your main fish healthier. They cannot help alleviate the most common malladies we encounter. Like Kevin said I would avoid the Cleaner Wrasses. said:
Good point Matt. I didn't mean to imply that they would be helpful in keeping the fish healthier. It is fun to watch them work, however.
