Cleaner shrimp dead?

Well I've had him for about 2 years as long as my tank has been established..
he was almost 3 inches long, very healthy, ate regular... no signs of illness.
My worry is this...
Where I found him in the sand there is also a dead conga snail. Which concerns me that maybe there is a spike of something??? But wouldn't my pulsing xenias be a sure sign to tell me if something is wrong. I have a good colony of 2000+ heads of xenias and they are all pulsing and happy... MY mushrooms are not as large as they usually are, my anemones are fine all fish and other inverts are fine....

Coincidence or problem???

I added about 2 gallons of fresh top off like I usually do when my water needs it today..

Perhaps should I do quick water change just in case something spiked..
 
and now I have noticed my true percula of 2 years has vanished....not outside of the aquarium nor can I see him inside!
WTH is going on!?
Could a condy anemone devour him?
 
Yeah my water supply is fine. I know I have mantis shrimp somewhere in the tank that was a hitchhiker... I've never seen him, but I hear him every night continuously snapping..... He may be the monster?? All my water parameters are fine I checked to make sure tonight.... IDK I've had a small clown goby go missing as well, but my true percula was 3 years old probably, he was smaller then the female in the tank but was still good size??? He's body is no where to be found! My female true perc is freaking out not having her mate.... What do I do about that? Will she mate up with another True Perc?

He means checking your source water for ammonia. There have been a lot of issues this summer with the hot temps and water treatment plant's switching to, or using more chloramine to treat the water supply. Unless you have a chloramine block filter, ammonia could make it's way into your tank.

My water parameters are fine tested today to confirm. No traces of ammonia what so ever.
I've never seen the mantis but I know by the continuous clicking that it rules out the pistol shrimp , because they pause in between clicks. this is POW-POW-POW non stop clicking action. He can't be very large ? I've never seen any signs of him??? and my tank is only a 40 gallon. I have lots of live rock with cave like structures on the bottom maybe he resides there. But I hear clicking almost every night.
Could a mantis take out a full size true percula clownfish ???
 
this might be an obvious question, but are you sure its not just a molt? i remember the first molt i saw, i swore up and down it was the actual shrimp until i saw him a couple days later. they hide after molting so it wouldnt be unusual not to see him.

but his eyes were attached and I actually picked him up when I got him out of the tank and I can assure you it was the actual thing,unfortunately ..
Idk what happen really?
I have no idea where the clownfish is...Dead for sure, but still no remains?
I would think the condys would spit out the remains if they got to him?
 
I had a 3-4" naso tang die in my tank, there was never a sign of him, ever. So if you have a good cleanup crew, it may be that it got destroyed by them. I'd check for any spikes in the NO's.
