Clam Questions

I have 2 3-4 inch Crocea Clams. I have them set in the sand with their foot buried in the sand but one keeps tilting backward with its foot titled upward, and one lays towards its side.

Should I leave them be and let them settle in themselves, or should I put them on a rock?

Also one leaves it blue markings on a rock nearby? Is this normal

They open pretty wide with their mantles extended out pretty far. Is there such a thing as mantles extending too far?

I have had them for about 3 weeks now. They open and close with the light really good.

Thanks in advance :)

According to clamsdirect.com, if they fall over or move, they most likely don't like the water movement (too much, too little) or the lighting. Try moving them.

Just repeating what I have been told by the so called experts.

Maybe the clam is unhappy in the sand. You may want to set it up a flat rock so it can attach it foot to the rock. Not sure if water flow has to do with the clam tilting to it's side.

If I remember my reading correctly, I believe the crocea's need to be placed on rock. Something more substantial than sand for them to attach to.
